Why is this type of audit so difficult?

First, the basis for audit is born in a contract basis, where either the purchaser or the contract manager has very little - or in many cases no knowledge of audit at all. The contract basis therefore does not create the right scope to ensure a successful audit.

Second, the auditors broadcast are trained as internal auditors with an emphasis on a given ISO standard. They are seldom neither trained nor trained in complex contractual contexts and are thus not sufficiently able to anticipate the consequences of any deviations.

The serious consequence of this is that the company brings itself into bad faith by auditing a supplier but may not be able to uncover the real issues. The supplier will then always be able to claim that the auditor has been present on the site and has not had any comments.
